Mabel's Did You Know?

Running a cup of citric acid through an empty dishwasher will help remove soap gunk and look brand new?  Citric acid is basically vitamin C.  A big component of Tang--the drink.

Hair Spray will remove permanent ink, such as to wipe off discount prices off jars.

Pure Orange oil is cheap and will remove hard to pull off price tag stickers.  Just dab it on and wait five minutes.  It also breaks down gum and wax!

Stick a vanilla bean in a jar of sugar and in a month you will have vanilla sugar!  Shake it a few times.

Stick a few olives in a small jar of salt for a week, with a garlic clove, remove, and you will have a gourmet olive salt.

A French press "infuser" is an invaluable kitchen aid.  To include fast tea and coffee in the AM!

Keep crushed aspirin on hand for fresh flowers.  That is usually all that is in the floral packets.

What is a Chef?

What is a chef?  Well, there is one thing that most people do in this world and do daily.  EAT!  That makes for a whole lot of cooking.  We are cooking around the clock, that you can be sure of.  Do you need a tall hat or a fancy title to be a chef?  I think not.  With all the cooking going on out there, I can tell you there are plenty of chefs in their own kitchens cooking up great things and finding out what works and just as often…what doesn’t work.  Simply, "the chef in you is an attitude."  One of my many goals with RecipeView is to nurture that "attitude."  ~Mabel

Entertaining with Mabel

My main function at RecipeView is to generate articles for Members that help them save money, make more meals from their food budget while keeping it healthy and fast.  I really enjoy being part of RecipeView and mingling with the members who have their own great ideas.  RecipeView is the only message system I leave open all day as I write.  It is user friendly, non-intrusive and so helpful to me. I depend on it all of the time.  The site was built years ago based on passion. The type of easy and useful tools created shows!  No one has anything like it, and I know my recipe box will always be there.

My forte is design and entertaining on a budget, so we will have a blast!  I hope to see you soon as a member.  I am easy to find, user:  MabelsTable.

MABEL'S TABLE

Saving the melted chocolate!  This time of year is germane to chocolates melting in cars and before the recipient receives them.  Someone bought me four pounds of plain chocolate truffles that melted on their long drive from up north.  They felt really bad about it, and suggested I throw them out.  Little did they know I already squeezed every bit of them out of the bag and set them in a bowl in a sunny window.  Within four hours I had melted the chocolate in a uniform and gentle manner.  I then had four pounds of what looked like chocolate soufflé.  I took the chocolate and let it cool enough in the air conditioning to roll it into balls again, using cocoa powder and or cinnamon to coat the balls.  I used some to frost  a cake.
