Site Help
Getting started!
As a Visitor, you will not see
some features that are available to Free Members and Free Members will
not see many things offered to
Paid Members. As a
Visitor, you can browse our site
in a limited fashion and use your browser's "print page" feature. You can also
e-mail your friends, rate recipes, and report recipes but you will not earn any
points.
To fully take advantage of our free site, first make sure your browser will
accept cookies from our site. Normally, it's found in your "Options Menu". Then
click on, "Register for FREE" on any of our pages.
If you experience any problems like
our site doesn't recognize you, you appear logged in on
one page but not on another, can't claim any points,
etc., make sure you have entered our site using the full URL.
That means, you should see
http://www.RecipeView.com in your browser Address line. If you
don't see www., add it before you log in or log out.
Why can't I see certain features of your site?
Our site is entirely cookie driven which means we need to be able to
recognize who is viewing our pages. We hold back on several bandwidth features
from Visitors to allow our
Free and
Paid Member to have more resources and speed
available for Searching, Adding/Editing recipes, Making E-books, and working on their
Shopping Lists. You must click on your browser's "Options
Menu" and allow our site to insert cookies and allow popups to view
some recipes and messages.
My friend said you have a Shopping List
Generator I can use.
Where is
it?
You will find it in your Member
Control Panel after you log in as a Free Member or
Paid Member. It will create
a Shopping List of Ingredients from the recipes you select from your
Private Collection.
Paid Members also get
10 other Shopping Lists and a To Do List.
I want to search for a recipe
but can't find a search box on your home page.
There is a Google search box that
will search a limited amount of our database for Visitors. However,
Free Members and
Paid Members will find
a Search Box by selecting a Category from our Main Menu. Because of all the traffic we
get, we could no longer allow all users to search the entire
database at one time.
Is there any way to remove
all the ads?
Yes. Obviously our site is used extensively by hundreds of
thousand of users each month. To offset the server and bandwidth
costs, we had to monetize our site with Google Adwords which
pays us a few cents when our Visitors click any of their links when
they see something of interest.
Using an average estimate of total
return visits per person and our click through rate, we have
developed a
Paid Membership which removes these ads.
It not only speeds up your searching and browsing, it offers
other options that our Visitors and Free Members do not get.
As a
Paid Member you get to see who else is
a Member,
not just a number representing the Members. You also have the option of creating your own
Recipe E-books using recipes you have selected and do extensive
searches throughout all of our categories.
Do I have to be on your site to win or
receive messages?
No. As long as you stay Logged In, you can click on
our ads or visit other sites. Any messages you
receive while you're away, will appear on the top menu whenever you
get back. If you are a
Paid Member, you can
load the Instant Message Popup and it will tell you that you
have a new message, no matter where you are currently. You just load
your Member Control Center and read it when you are ready.
I'm a Paid Member and want to
send a message to all Members. However, I don't see all the Members
in the drop down list. I know there are more than what I see. Why is
this? The Drop
Down List and the Send Mail To All feature will only
allow messages to be sent to those that want it. Some Members
may have their Messages Turned Off or they may have Banned
You from sending them messages. These features were added to
protect members from being spammed from other members that
continuously send gibberish to all members that don't want it. When
we receive complaints from other Members about any particular
Member, whether Free or Paid, the Message Privileges will be
removed. Member Control
Center This feature
is available to Free and
Paid Members only and
is the heart of the Message System. It will show all your
Received Messages and all your Sent Messages that are
unread. Once it has been read, it will no longer show up in your
database. This was designed to give you the opportunity to delete it
before it is read in case you change your mind.
Add New Recipe
This feature is available to Free and
Paid Members only. Just
click Add New Recipe in your Control Panel and enter the
information. You can add the recipe to your own Private
Collection, our RecipeView Database, or both. If you add it to
our database, you will Earn 1 Chance to Win if it is accepted by
our reviewer. Edit Your
Recipes This feature
is available to Free and
Paid Members only. It
contains all the recipes you add to it by using the Add New
Recipe button in your Control Panel or as a
Paid Member, using our
One Click Feature found on all our recipes on-line. Select
the recipe you want and click EDIT Selected to make changes.
Use the Select For Other table to use DELETE Selected,
Generate Shopping List, or Make E-book.
To create a Shopping List,
just select the recipes you want to try. Click Generate Shopping
List and our program will pull all the ingredients from each
recipe. You then select the ingredients you need and click
Generate Printer Friendly List. Then, just take your list with
you when you go for groceries. You can add your own items as
well.
When making E-books, select
the recipes you want to add, enter an optional Main Title and
Banner heading, and click Make E-book.
Update Profile
This is used to Opt-in or Out
of several features and includes your Mailing Address if you
are participating in the Chances To Win Program. Be sure to keep your
information current as we deliver prizes or send e-mail to the
addresses provided. Accounts will be removed if we get returns or
the account shows inactivity for some time. If you do not plan on
returning, please delete your account.
My Favorite
This option is available to both Free
and
Paid Members. Your
Favorites will store as many of our recipes as you like. To add a
Favorite, just view any recipe in our database. If you want
to try it later, just click the button at the bottom of the page and
it will be added to your list. You can select and delete them
afterward.
Block/Unblock Member
To Block a Member from sending you
messages, just enter their User Name, or for
Paid Members, from a
Drop Down List, and click Save. To Unblock a Member, select the
check box in line with their name and click Delete Selected. To
block everyone, just turn Messages OFF! Please report
abuse of this system if anyone appears to be spamming you
or sending unwanted messages.
Send A Message
Just select the Member,
enter a Title, enter your Message, Check Spelling,
and click Send. Do not abuse this system or privileges will
be revoked. Your sent Message will appear in your Member Control
Center until it has been read. You can view it and delete it if
you like.
Member Menu
Your Member Menu
includes Add New Recipe, Edit Your recipes, Update
Profile, My Favorites, Log Out, Block/Unblock
Members, Send Messages, and Turn Messages ON or OFF.
Paid Members also get Baby
Needs List, Book Shopping List, Camera & Photo List,
DVD & Video List, Computer & Video Games List,
Electronics List, Magazines List, Music List,
Software List, Tools & Hardware List, To Do List,
My Menu Links, Popup Instant Message and Download
Recipe E-books.
All of these lists operate on
the same principal as the Grocery Shopping List. You just
select what you want from our examples or enter your own.
Then generate a Printer Friendly List to take with you.
My Menu Links control
the use of the left menu as a
Paid Member. You can enter all
your personal links for quick access. No other Member can see them.
We figured, since all the ads are gone, you might as well use it.
Download Recipe E-books
leads you to a page where you can download all our 230 Recipe
E-books with a click of a button for each. You have access to
all those recipes right here on-line but you may have a family
member or friend that does not have a connection on-line and may be
interested in a few of them. Please only download what you will be
using. Do not download all of them at one sitting. It will draw too
much bandwidth from other members.
